about

Eubonia Soilshagh
Eubonia Soilshagh (Melody: Annie Kissack, Lyrics: Samuel Rutter ) / Moirrey ny Cainle Jig (Trad. Manx) / Grine veg Oarn (Melody: Annie Kissack, Lyrics: Trad. Manx)

Annie Kissack’s brilliant contemporary melodies have breathed new life into these old Manx drinking songs, both of which were collected without melodies. ‘Eubonia’ is an old name for the Isle of Man and this first song dates back to the 1600s, penned by a bishop who was fond of a tipple or two! The songs are woven together by a jig, traditionally performed at Candlemas.
